Sonja was born June 14, 1962 in Rome, NY to Theryl and Carola (Berndl) Blackwell.  She grew up exploring the world with her family through her father's military service.  They settled in Minot after his discharge.

She lived in Fargo and Minot during her lifetime.  She worked at the Ranger Lounge in Minot for Marlyn Sailer for many years.  It was her favorite place to work and it was there that she met the love of her life Robert.

Sonja wed Robert Napora on February 13, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV.  Her family grew with 2 stepsons Robert and Richard.  Sunny loved her 'adventures' with Bob.  'You are never lost, it's always an adventure,' was their mantra.  One of those adventures being in 2010 when she, Robert and her stepson Rick purchased the Ranger Lounge.  Robert and Sunny enjoyed several holidays and memories with their close friends Du and Joanie Moe.

She will be missed by all who were blessed to share in her life as she joins Bob in that vineyard in France.

Sonja is survived by her brother, Bryan Blackwell of Texas, stepsons, Robert (Krissy) Napora of Wisconsin, Richard (Jennifer) of Minot, ND; several step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and many extended family members.

Sonja was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Napora.

A private by invitation service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2020 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home in Minot.
