Shirley Ann Storbeck, 72, Winchester, Va, formerly of Minot, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 in her home in Winchester , Virginia.
Shirley was born July 4, 1940 to Richard and Nina (Smith) JOhnson on the family farm in Renville County, North Dakota. She was raised on the farm near Glenburn and educated at the Van Buren Country School, before graduating from Carpio High School in 1958. She then received her standard teaching certificate from Minot State College in Elementary Education.
Shirley was united in marriage to Richard Storbeck on September 2, 1960. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their three children. In addition, Shirley was employed for the Minot Daily News and Minot City Auditorium. They also owned and operated the Spice N Spirit Restaurant from 1980-1984.
In 1990, they moved to Virginia to be closer to their children. Shirley was employed at JC Penney . After retiring, she moved to Winchester where she led an active lifestyle going to senior exercise classes, volunteering at the CCAP food bank, enjoyed working in her flower gardens and going to social outings with friends and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Richard died November of 1991. Shirley was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, in Minot, and Bethel Lutheran Church in Winchester, VA.
Her loving family includes, children, Richard (Diedre) Storbeck, Kimberly (John) Michelitch , Lori (Danny) Hoosier all of Virginia; grandchildren, Taylor Michelitch, Sawyer Michelitch, Theodore Storbeck, Carly Storbeck, Tucker Hoosier, Wyatt Hoosier & Grace Hoosier; brother, Lawrence (Deborah) Johnson, Minot; sisters, Patricia Larson, Colorado, Springs, CO and Fern Kabanuk, Arizona.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard.
Funeral service:
Monday, March 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation
: Sunday from Noon-4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
