Obituary

Shirley Jean Kuebler , 71, Minot, formerly of rural Kramer, ND died on Sunday May 4, 2008, in a Minot nursing home.

Shirley was born on July 14, 1936 on the Thiel family farm in Stone Creek Township of Bottineau County near Kramer, ND to Walter and Lillie (Thiel) Garbe. She was raised on a farm in that township and attended school in Kramer. She was the only graduate of the Kramer High School Class of 1954.

Shirley married Maynard Kuebler on June 20, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kramer. They made their home in Minot prior to Maynard's military service when they lived in New Jersey and New Mexico. They returned to Minot in 1959 where she was very supportive and understanding of Maynard's time consuming jobs especially when he was the plant director at Trinity Hospital. In addition, she was employed for several years as a drapery seamstress at Voeller's Furniture in Minot. Following Maynard's retirement they spent nine winters in Mesa AZ.

Shirley was a longtime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church - Minot where she served as the wedding coordinator for a time. She was a passionate lady, her love of family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews, never changed. Shirley was a longtime volunteer and past president of Trinity Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed crafts, collecting dolls and antique glassware. In recent years, she enjoyed visits with Tigger, Ruger, and Benelli.

Shirley's loving family includes her husband of 53 years Maynard; sister: Linda (Allen) Bjornson, Minot; brother: Wally (Neola) Garbe, Minot; sister in law: Sheila McNea, Moorhead, MN; brother-in-law: Myron (Christi) Kuebler, Barnes, WI; and nieces and nephews: Kristi Walcker, Shane (Tara) Bjornson, Michelle (Scott) Byrd, Carmen (Matt) Kuebler Job, Brent (Tina) Kuebler, Michael M. Kuebler, Randy (Beth) McNea, Dan McNea, Chad (Bev) McNea, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lillie Garbe; parents-in-law: Herman and Alvina Kuebler.

Funeral Service: Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association (1323 23rd St. S, Suite C, Fargo, ND 58103), Trinity Foundation, St. Mark's Lutheran Church or to the donors choice.
