Shirley Darlene Kramer, Minot, received her angel wings on April 15, 2019 in her home at the age of 77.

Shirley, a familiar lifelong resident of Minot was the youngest daughter of Marvin and Ruth (Armstrong) Mattern, was born October 19, 1941 in Minot, ND. She attended school in Glenburn for six years and completed her education in Minot as a graduate of Minot Model School in 1960.

As a young adult, Shirley found employment for various businesses in North Dakota and Montana. She returned to Minot and started work as an aid at St. Joseph's Hospital until 1966.

Shirley was united in marriage to Francis Jerome Kramer on October 16, 1965 in Minot. They were blessed with two sons, Jerome David in 1967 and Jason Darin in 1974. They grew old together in the home they built on El Rio Drive. Francis passed away on August 24, 2013. A strong woman and stroke survivor in 2002, Shirley was a persistent little lady with a sweet smile, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Shirley was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose, both of Minot. She enjoyed reading, spending time in her garden and always took time to tend to her flowers. Shirley and Francis loved to cook, fish, and travel. They were active grandparents to a wonderful grandson. She was actively involved in the family farming operation and Francis's insurance business.

Shirley is survived by her sons Jerome Kramer, Minot and Jason Kramer, West Fargo, ND; grandson Tyler Kramer, Tooele, Utah; brother Dale (Kay) Mattern, Minot along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis, sister Vera Oster and brothers Clayton and Loren Mattern.

Family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation to all friends, family, and Visiting Angels Caregivers for all the time and resources during this time of celebration and reflection of Shirley.

Funeral service: Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Vincent United Methodist Church or the Moose Lodge of Minot.
