Obituary

Shirley Rae Hanson, 80, 22-20th St NW, died Sunday, February 4, 2007, in a Minot nursing home.

She was born August 7, 1926 in Washburn, ND to Ernest and Emma (Granstrom) Johnson. She attended school in Washburn. As a young woman Shirley worked during WWII in an airplane factory in Seattle (Boeing).

Shirley married Clarence Hanson on September 13, 1947, in Minot. They farmed near Washburn until 1950 and then returned to Minot. Clarence was a mail contractor for the US Postal Service for 32 years. He died on June 27, 1989.

Shirley was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church. She enjoyed family picnics and get-togethers, cooking, gardening, and having lunch with friends.

She is survived by her four children, Judith (Darrel) Hovde, Connie (Gardell) Giffey, Rodger (Betty) Hanson, and Ricka (Mike) Powers. She has 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren; Sisters: Marjorie Krieger, River Ridge, LA, and Beverly Olesen, Minot.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Marilyn Carver.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot;
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot;
Visitation:
Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
