Sherry Olson, 54, Minot, died Thursday, August 20, 2015 in a Mandan hospital.

Sherry Quillen was born March 21, 1961, in Bellevue, Pennsylvania to Ralph and Elaine (Caye) Quillen.

Sherry was blessed with her children at a young age during her first marriage, eventually raising her kids in Louisiana. Her family became members of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she enjoyed Bible Study and singing baritone in the Church's Choir. She joined David Olson in marriage on February 2, 1992 and later that summer they followed David's military career to Minot, ND.

Sherry attended Minot State University, graduating in 1995, summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Social Work Degree with a concentration in Gerontology. She began her career with the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Following a hunting accident in the fall of 1995, which nearly killed her, Sherry, would be confined to a wheelchair, but it would not define the rest of her life that would involve many challenges that she dominated for the next 20 years. Sherry fulfilled her role as mother to her children providing enough love and care for ten lifetimes.

She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Minot. She also remained a licensed social worker over the years and carried a membership with the National Association of Social Workers.

Sherry loved music, playing violin and piano at a young age. Science fiction and horror films were late night flicks often found on the television or maybe it was late night tv shopping that added to the obsessive collection of Christmas decorations often on display during the holidays in her home.

Sherry loved deeply and was loved deeply in return by her family and those affectionately known as the 'quad squad' who were with her and her family throughout the happiest and most challenging part of their lives. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that dayand not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV)

Sherry's loving family includes her children, Cassandra (Jeremy) Heller, Houston, TX; and Jeremy (Sarah) Putt, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Jason, Evan and Julia Putt; father, Ralph Quillen; brothers, Danny (Shantay) Quillen and Steven Quillen, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, caregivers and many friends.

Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Elaine and former husband David Olson.

Celebration of Sherry's Life: 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

The register book will be available to sign on Monday, one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to finding treatments and cures, as well as provide resources and support to empower those living with paralysis and spinal cord injury.
