Sherman Paul Pladsen, 73, of Minot, ND, passed away in his home on June 24, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Born July 10, 1952, in Minot, ND to Paul and Lois Pladsen he was the oldest of three children and was raised south of Minot. Following graduation from Minot high school in 1970 he started work as a flooring installer at which he continued till his retirement.
Sherman loved the outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting in the fall, snowmobiling in the winter, and complaining about the robins in the summer. In 1991 he and Pat purchased their cabin at Lake Metigoshe where they spent many years making endless memories with their children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Through the years he volunteered with the Minot Hockey Boosters, was a board member of the SnoTrails of North Dakota, and an avid member of the Dakota Trailblazers snowmobile club.
Sherman is famous, at least among those that knew him, for his smoked turkey, deer sausage, his incomprehensible love for lutefisk and liver and onions, his distinctive and contagious laugh, and fixing anything and everything with duct tape.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, sisters Deb (Randy) Armstrong, and Karla (Bill) Keller, son Paul (Patty) Pladsen, daughters Renee (Chad) Clement, Tara Pladsen, Rachel (Wade) Rippel, Jen (Derek) Sys, and 19 grandchildren – Elly, Prynn, Cameron, Hailey, Carter, Madison, Leah, Colter, Carson, Caleb, Zander, Hunter, Avery, Wyatt, Reagen, Kinsley, Sloane, Lennex, and Tayelin.
