January 10, 1937 – December 7, 2020
Sheldon "Nick" Nickel, 83 passed away on December 7, 2020 in Minot, ND from complications of the COVID-19 virus.
Nick was born in Pennsylvania to David and Minnie Nickel. He and his brothers Bob and Larry, and his sister Sue were raised in Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
Nick was encouraged by his family to join the Military. He Became an Aircraft Mechanic in the U.S. Air Force where he served for 27 years. The Air Force brought Nick to Minot, North Dakota where he met and married Geraldine Kwasigroch in 1960. Together they had three children, Peter, Rhonda and John and became proud grandparents of Jeremy and Ashley. The Air Force took the family to bases all over the world and finally back to Minot where Nick retired. After retirement from the military, Nick joined his brother-in-law Kenny as a roofer in Minot until his full retirement.
Nick enjoyed hunting, fishing, family get-togethers and daily outings with his friends. His sense of humor touched everyone that he came into contact with. He will be missed by all.
Nick is survived by his wife Geraldine "Gerry" Nickel, Minot; Daughter Rhonda Thomas & Husband Jason "Jay" Thomas, Minot; Grandchildren: Jeremy Berg, Lake Tahoe, NV, Ashley Berg, Minot; Step Grandsons: Jason Thomas, Minot, Keith Thomas, Las Vegas, NV; Sisters-In-Law: Karen Anderson, Minot, Carla Kwasigroch, Minot along with numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Nick was preceded in death by his Parents: David & Minnie Nickel; Sons: Peter & John Nickel; Brothers: Bob & Larry Nickel; Sister: Sue Brewer; Parents-In-Law: Peter & Olive Kwasigroch and Brother-In-Law: Kenny Kwasigroch.
Graveside Service
: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation:
Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Face coverings and social distancing guidelines required to attend.
