Sharon Jo-Ann Opp, 74, Minot, formerly of Sawyer, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in a Minot Hospital.
Sharon was born October 24, 1940 on the family farm near Jamestown, North Dakota the daughter of Carl and Geline (Haugen) Peterson. She was raised and educated at Devils Lake and Minnesota before the family moved to a farmstead near Velva. The family then moved to Sawyer, where Sharon graduated from Sawyer High School in 1959.
Sharon attended beauty school in Bismarck, before she was united in marriage to Arley Opp on January 2, 1962. Following their marriage, they made their home in Sawyer. Sharon was once employed at St Josephs Hospital and Trinity Nursing Home in the housekeeping department. She also assisted her husband in cleaning several local businesses. Arley died October 6, 2005. She continued to live in Sawyer until November of 2005, when she moved to Minot.
Sharon enjoyed riding horseback, and gardening, especially tending to her flowers. She enjoyed watching TV, especially the Weather Channel, Animal Planet and Bull Riding. She was a member of the Lutheran faith.
Her loving family includes , children, Cheryl Opp, Minot, Karen Opp, Minot, Dorothy (Jason) Sparks, Grand Forks, ND; 7 grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Puklich, Bismarck, ND; along with 3 half-sisters and a half- brother.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Terry and brother, Clarence.
Funeral service: Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment : Sawyer Community Cemetery.
Visitation: Wednesday one hour prior to the service in Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Memorials are preferred.
