Sean William Gillmore Burnett, 26, died Thursday, January 18th, 2018 in Minot. He was born in Minot at Trinity Hospital April 27th, 1991 to Colleen Kastner.
He was raised outside of Minot and attended Bell School where he played baritone in band, which started his love of music. He was also a wrestler, which he didn't like because he didn't like hurting people. A Packers fan from a young age, Sean and Bob would watch the Packers -Vikings games hoping the other's team would lose.
Later he attended Minot High School graduating in 2010. While there, he took mechanics and grew to have a love of guns, hunting, fishing and camping. Sean spent many weekends camping with his Mom and Bob down at Ft. Stevenson, where he would try to out fish Bob. He also worked at Space Aliens and the Vegas as a cook.
While in high school he met the mother of his children, Leisha, and together they have two beautiful girls, Marli and Paityn. His girls were his pride and joy. His favorite thing to say to them was, "I love you to the moon and back!" Marli would reply, "I love you to the moon and back and more!" They'd continue adding mores until they'd giggle and end up in a big hug.
After high school, he spent his free time riding his dirt bike. "Seaners" loved playing pool and hanging out with his Mom when they both had a free afternoon. He worked with his brother Josh for a while laying carpet, various other construction jobs and then later for Spartan Nash.
His favorite times were being around family and friends. He was the best man for both his brother, Josh, and his cousin, Justin. The best way to describe him was as a gentle giant who will be remembered for his big hugs and his even bigger smile. He was affectionately known as everyone's little brother, even though he was taller than everyone else. And we could always count on him to finish all the extra food. Whenever we had a family event and we knew Sean was coming, we always made sure there was more than enough food to feed him.
Everyone referred to him as Uncle Sean even if they were older than him. But to those who he really was Uncle Sean, they remember him best for his prankster ways and how he would tease them all until they giggled.
Sean is survived by his girls, Marli and Paityn Burnett, their mother Leisha Esterby; his mother Colleen (Bob) Kastner, his brother Josh Gillmore (Marissa) and their children Jayden and Kynsli; Step-siblings Shannon Kastner and her daughter Hayden, Bobbie Kastner (Ben Mooney) and their children Frank, Evelyn, Ruth, and Tanner Kastner (Whitney Boehm) and their children Sophie and Ellie; his grandparents Clayton and Marilyn Gillmore and Phyllis Kastner; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his Great-Grandparents Annie and Chester Gillmore and Mabel Solem and Grandfather Emil Kastner.
Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, Minot.
A livestreaming of the service will be available and can be accessed at Visitation: Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
