Scott Lee "Santa" Richardson, 50, Minot died on Saturday, August 15, 2009 in a Minneapolis, MN Care Center following a courageous battle with complications from diabetes.
Scott was born on June 26, 1959 in Minot, North Dakota to Vern and Marlys (McCullough) Richardson. Scott was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1978. He enjoyed working at Rex's Auto Wrecking, Minot Wrecking, Trading Post and several years at Dakota Wrecking for Ole Olson in addition to removing snow for many people. Scott was once married to Karen Knutt in 1986. He attended Bismarck State College where he received specialized training in auto mechanics and later achieved his ASE certification. Scott spent many hours working on vehicles in his garage and also had a passion for riding his motorcycle and snowmobile. He especially enjoyed Nodak Speedway, World of Outlaws, Nascar and Drag Racing. He spent many hours at the family cabin on Lake Metigoshe. Scott also had a special love for all his nieces and nephews.
Scott collected hub caps, Sad Sams and many tools. He was a member of the Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club and a member of ROW Motorcycle Club of Minot. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and also attended Spiritual Life Church of Minot. Scott was a giving and caring person to everyone he knew. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include: Brother: Randy Richardson, Minot; Sisters: Candace Richardson, Penny (Keith) Theusch; both of Minot; Debra (Dean) Schmeets, Harvey; Nieces and Nephews: Onida Benjaminson; Chelsey, Breanna and David Theusch all of Minot; Kelly (Sean) Schmeets Garcia, Fort Lewis, Washington; Sara Schmeets, Moorhead, MN; Amber Schmeets, Gillette, Wyoming; Brittanie Schmeets, Fargo; Elizabeth and Joshua Schmeets, Harvey; Adam, Jenny and Alex Cogdill, Minot. Great Nieces and Great Nephews: Jacob, Emma, Kaden, Camden and Noah and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Marlys Richardson and grandparents.
Funeral Service:
Friday, August 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
