Scott Erb, 56, New Leipzig, formerly of Minot, died Monday, December 2, 2013 in his home.
Scott was born on February 4, 1957 in Williston, North Dakota to Kenneth and Adeline (Johnson) Erb. He moved to Minot as an infant, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Minot High School in 1975. On March 24, 1977, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, stationed in Minot and was honorably discharged in 1981.
On October 17, 1978, Scott and Gerilyn Bachmeier were united in marriage at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Minot. He began his career in law enforcement as a police officer residing in Kenmare until moving to Makoti in April, 1984 when he joined the Ward County Sheriff's Department as a deputy. He moved his family to Minot where he continued his work. In 1989, he was promoted to Sergeant and in 1992, he was promoted to Lieutenant, serving the community until his retirement in 2009. Following his retirement, Scott moved to New Leipzig, ND.
Scott was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and also a member of the North Dakota Peace Officers Association. He enjoyed playing poker, photography and golfing. He also loved to ride in his convertible cars but also enjoyed ceramic painting and traveling. The thing Scott loved most was feeding the squirrels while having coffee time with all of his friends. He will be deeply missed everyone who shared in his life.
Scott is survived by his mother, Adeline Erb, Minot; children, Jessica (MSgt. Joshua Gressett) Gressett, Holloman AFB, NM and Michael (Rikki) Erb, Rugby, ND; grandchildren, Aiden, Cordelia, baby girl Gressett, and Jackson, Jayden and Piper Erb; best friend, Gerilyn Erb, Minot; sisters, Debbie Calavera, Hutchinson, Minnesota and Kathy Erb, Minot and several nephews and nieces.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Erb and his beloved cat, Frisky.
Funeral:
Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Minot.
Visitation:
Friday, December 6, 2013 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
