IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra
Karnack
April 11, 1946 – August 10, 2019
Sandra Karnack, 73, Minot, ND died on Saturday August 10, 2019 at a Minot Hospital.
Born on April 11, 1946 in Donora, PA, Sandie graduated in 1964 from Donora High School and was a student at the Pittsburgh Playhouse where her path of Dancing and Theatre Arts began; a path she would travel for the majority of her life. Married in 1964 to Ronald V. Karnack, Sr., an Airman in the USAF. In the 23 years of military life they shared Sandie ran two successful bands, was the Director of After Hours Players-MAFB, One Step Ahead Youth Dance Troupe-MAFB, WizKids-MAFB and was involved in USAF Worldwide Entertainment including SAC Showcase and Tops in Blue.
In 1980, Ronald Sr., retired from the USAF. The family stayed in Minot where she became the Resident Director of Mouse River Players' Community Theater from 1980-1996. Her accomplishments during this time included MRP Music Revue, MRP Too!, MRP "Mini-Mousers" Children's Theatre and the various touring show units she developed. But her true joy was helping to raise and inspire decent, loving People who were confident and possessed the skills necessary to do anything they strived for. One of her Theatre students said it best: "She never accepted "I can't" but applauded. She was always "Let me see what I can do with that." She worked so hard day and night to do what she loved and worked the same hours to care for those she loved.
Sandie's family was never limited by relation; the door to her home and her heart was ever-open to anyone day or night. She was teacher, friend, mentor, mom, chef, business advisor, counselor and activist.
Sandie was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Ronald V Karnack, Sr.; parents Dorothy and Ermin Huhra, brother Ronald Huhra and grandchildren Bobbi and Teresa Hayes. Sandie is survived by her son, Ronald V. Karnack, Jr. and wife Kelli Montplaisir Karnack; sister Lee Huhra-Popp and husband David Popp; nephew Robert Nuzzo and wife Farrah and their children Ali, David and Becca; niece Mandy Nuzzo-Pless and husband Brad Pless and their children Mackenzie and Alexandra; and her most trusted friend of over 30 years, Lori Garnes.
