Obituary

Sadeth Bakken, 101, Minot, ND died Monday June 29, 2009 at the Brentmoor Assisted Living Community in Minot, ND.

Sadeth Hanenberg was born March 30. 1908 on the family farm home near Drake, ND, the daughter of John Hanenberg and Minnie (VerHeyen) Hanenberg. She attended the local school and later attended Minot College. She taught school in Guthrie, ND.

She and Casper Bakken were married in 1928 at Anamoose, ND. They made their home in Drake until 1943 when they moved to Jamestown. In 1944 they moved to Minot. She worked at the Farmers Union Creamery, Coast to Coast, S & L and Stevensons Ready To Wear until she retired. Following the death of her husband in 1981, she continued to reside in Minot.

She was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church and Confraternity, also the Moose Auxiliary and a life member of the Eagles Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Schlenker, 2 grandchildren, Jon (Peg) Schlenker, Jan (Gary) Haut, all of Jamestown, ND, 3 great grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary) Schmidt, Mankato, MN, Jill Schlenker, Jamestown, ND and Michael Opp, Fargo, ND, and 1 great great granddaughter, Corinne Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son-in-law, 3 brothers and 6 sisters.

Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. Thursday July 2, 2009 at the St.Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot, ND with Father Frederick Harvey, officiating.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens at Minot, ND.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
