S. Bud Johnson, 89, Burlington, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Bud was born October 23, 1925 in Prescott Township of Renville County, North Dakota the son of John and Bertha (Thorson) Johnson. He was raised and educated at Wolseth, North Dakota and graduated from Glenburn High School in 1944. He continued to assist with the operation of the family farmstead until enlisting with the U.S. Army in 1950. Bud honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his decorated service. He was honorably discharged August 17, 1952.
Bud was united in marriage to Madeleine Lillie on December 29, 1949 in Minot. After his military service, he was employed at Trinity Hospital as an operating room technician for more than 20 years. He later worked in the heart catheterization lab for 10 years, before retiring in 1991. They lived in Burlington throughout the years.
Bud was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Mandan. He was a life member of the VFW Club #753, Minot Rifle and Pistol Club. He was also a member of the Burlington Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed reading and woodworking.
Bud's loving family includes, wife of 65 years, Madeleine Johnson, Burlington; daughter, Valerie Schneider, Wenatchee, WA and son, Michael (Jen) Johnson, Devils Lake, ND; 3 grandchildren to include, April, Chris & Rubin; 5 great grand children.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Johnson.
Funeral service : Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
R osary Recitation : Friday, February 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Veterans Section of Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, February 13, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
