Ryan Chennault , 42, Minot, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Minot.
Ryan was born on July 22, 1983, on Eglin Air Force Base, near Fort Walton Beach, Florida to Mark and Beverly (Boyd) Chennault. He was raised in Las Vegas, NV, and attended Bonanza High School.
Ryan enlisted into the US Army in 2000. He proudly served as a Cavalry Scout. He was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO and later at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, AK. He was a proud veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was part of the first push into Baghdad with his brothers-in-arms. He served honorably and was discharged in 2006.
It was in Alaska that he met Lauren Bartels in 2004. They married in 2010 and were blessed with a son, Ozi and daughter, Grace. Following his military service, they eventually moved to Watford City, ND in 2008 where Ryan began his career working in the oil and gas industry. They moved to Minot in 2013. Ryan proudly worked midstream for EOG Resources from 2018 until his passing.
Ryan valued the relationships he built at work. He earned the respect of colleagues for his intelligence, dedication, reliability, and sense of humor that could lighten even the toughest days. He was always looking for ways to improve and solve challenging issues.
Born with an adventurous spirit, Ryan never did anything halfway—whether serving his country, starting a new hobby, perfecting his recipe for smoked ribs, making his family the best lattes, or building a chicken coop. He enjoyed camping in the Black Hills of South Dakota with family, fishing, late nights playing video games, cooking and trying new foods with his wife, and last but not least the thrill of flying.
Ryan was always ready and willing to help if he saw a need. It gave his heart great joy to be able to fix something for someone or find a solution to a problem. Ryan will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, his quick wit, and his uncanny ability to make people laugh—often with the silliest jokes. He was the guy you could always count on, whether you needed your driveway plowed, a listening ear, a clever solution, or a card to lift your spirits.
Ryan is survived by his loving wife Lauren, Minot; children Ozi and Grace; parents Mark and Beverly Chennault, Las Vegas, NV; grandmother Reba Maxine Chennault of Florida; mother-in-law Peg Mognet, Minot, ND; siblings Stephanie Chennault, Los Angeles, CA, Philip Chennault and Sydney Chennault, both of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law Fran (Zeke) Gau of Wisconsin and Eshton Wesseling, South Dakota; nieces Zoey, Livvy, Bella, McKenzie and Megan and nephews Lyric, Denver and Kai along with many cousins.
Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Henry Lee Chennault and maternal grandparents Catherine Elizabeth and Edward Gilbert Boyd.
