Ruth Zimbelman , Minot, died surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, February 03, 2016, on her 95th birthday, in a Minot hospital.

Ruth was born February 3, 1921, one of ten children to Jacob and Marie (Sauter) Steffan in Sawyer, ND. She was reared and educated in Newman Township of Ward County. Ruth lived on the family farm for fifteen years and worked as a housekeeper for local families.

Ruth married Emil Zimbelman on June 2, 1939, at the Church of the Nazarene in Sawyer. They made their home near Sawyer until moving to Minot in 1943. She continued her work of serving area families as a housekeeper and live-in caretaker for the elderly for many years.

Emil died on December 27, 1966. Following his death, she worked as a cook at Minot Model School until she retired in 1980. She continued to reside in Minot most recently at Edgewood Vista for the past six years.

Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church, Minot, where she nurtured her love of singing as a member of the choir for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Ruth enjoyed traveling, could often be found with a good book and loved cooking for family and friends. In Ruth\'s later years she took pride in offering rides to all of her senior friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Ruth's loving family includes her children: Darlene (Don) Michelson of Sun City, AZ, Verne (Judy) Zimbelman of Apple Valley, MN, Curt (Linda) Zimbelman of Minot and Lyle (Susan) Zimbelman of Minot; grandchildren: Brent Michelson, Tammy Harn, Bradley Michelson, Marty Michelson, Troy Zimbelman, Teri Gray, Travis Zimbelman, Melissa Erhart, Tamara Edwinson, Kristi Sell, Ashlee Feldhake and Angela Faaiuaso; great-grandchildren: Chelsea Solem, Courtney Nicholson, Shannon Michelson, Nathan Weiwel, Chancellor Harn, Ryan Michelson, Cambree Michelson, Kylie Michelson, Halston Harn, Braden Michelson, Rachel Michelson, Brooke Michelson, Dakotah Zimbelman, Riley Gray, Isaac Gray, Noah Gray, Jack Zimbelman, Jase Zimbelman, Cade Erhart, Adam Edwinson, Jacob Edwinson, Emily Edwinson, Austin Sell, Kailey Sell, Holden Feldhake, Liam Feldhake, Ethan Faaiuaso and Zoe Faaiuaso; great-great-grandchildren: Zachary Solem and Hunter Nicholson; sister: Sarah Shippy of Sun City, AZ and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil; sisters: Martha Faul, Laura Forthun, and Katherine Schmidt and brothers: Jake, Reuben, Bill, Ben and Fred Steffan.

Celebration of the Life of Ruth Zimbelman: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Our Redeemer's Church - Minot.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Friday, February 5, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to First Baptist Church - Minot.
