Ruth Myrtle Martens, 91, Minot and formerly of Underwood died on Friday, September 25, 2009 in a Minot nursing home.

Ruth was born on April 3, 1918 in Underwood, ND to Eugene and Sophie (Schweiger) Laudenschlager. She was reared and educated in Underwood. She moved to Minot in 1935 to attend beauty school and then to Minneapolis where she was employed at the Foshay Tower.

Ruth married Paul Martens on January 8, 1946 in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minot where she was employed at various places in downtown Minot as a sales clerk. Paul died on May 5, 1961. She continued to reside in Minot most recently at Trinity Homes.

Ruth was a member of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Women of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her loving family includes her daughter: Cindy (John) Sandeen of Minot and grandchildren: Dusty (Jason) Zimmerman of Minot and Jack (Ashley) Sandeen of Erie, PA; sister-in-law: Ardith Laudenschlager of Rapid City,SD and two nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Ben and Don and two infant brothers.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
