Russell Terrance. Larson, 74, Minot, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in a Minot Hospital.

Russell was born March 23, 1939 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Walter and Marguerite (Schellenbaum) Larson. He was raised south of Minot and went to county schools. He graduated from Minot High School in 1957. He attended Sunday School and was confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church, rural Minot.

Russell was united in marriage to Claire Freda on August 31, 1958 at Saron Lutheran Church. They made their home in Minot. Russell was employed at Self Service Furniture and Voellers Furniture Stores, before becoming the manager of Tollefson's Furniture and Carpet, where he was honored for 25 years of faithful service.

Russ was active in the Minot Eagles Aerie and held a number of offices with the group including Aerie President. He received their 50 year membership pin and was honored with the Mr. & Mrs. Eagle Award with his wife, Claire. He was a member and past president of the Minot Lions Club. He was a former member of the Minot Moose Lodge and Elks Club #1089. Russell was a 50 year member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where he had served on the Church Council and as past President of the Congregation. After retirement, Russ became a faithful volunteer for Trinity Hospital where he logged thousands of volunteer hours. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their Rice Lake cabin.

His loving family includes , wife of 55 years, Claire; children, Rev. Craig (Suzanne) Larson, Tucson, AZ, Bruce (Rhonda) Larson, rural Minot, Lynn (Marvin) Meine, Minot and Chanda Larson, Fargo; grandchildren, Andria & Monica Larson, Matthew & Brooke Meine; sisters, Luella Conine, Newman, GA, Olive Hill, Minot, Phyllis Bertsch, Williston, Barbara Jenson, Minot, brothers, Donald Larson, Minot, Arnold Larson, Woodland, CA and David Larson, rural Minot; numerous nieces and nephews.

Russell was preceded in death by his brothers in law, James Conine , Duane Hill and Joe Bertsch and sister in law, Marjorie Larson.

Funeral service : Monday, January 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Saron Lutheran Cemetery, rural Minot in the Spring.
Visitation : Sunday from noon-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
