Russell Krall , 76, Minot, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at St. Alexius Hospital – Bismarck. His loving family was at his side.
Russell Eugene Krall was born on May 27, 1947 to Russell H. & Irene (Miller) Krall in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He was raised and educated in Lebanon and graduated from high school there. Russell enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on August 5, 1968 and was stationed at Minot Air Force Base as a member of the Strategic Air Command's 91st Missile Wing. Prior to his honorable discharge as a Sergeant on August 12, 1971, he served his country as a missile maintenance technician with the highest security clearance possible and received the National Defense Service Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. Shortly thereafter, he reenlisted and served until 1975 when he entered the Reserves.
Russell married Peggy Roy on September 25, 1971 at First Assembly of God in Minot. They made their home in Minot until his retirement from the U.S. Air Force when they moved to Pennsylvania for a short time where he was employed by Jack Lash Plumbing Company. The couple had two children: Dawn and Rusty. The family returned to Minot in 1977.
In Minot, Russell was employed by Cargill and also worked as a bartender at various establishments prior to becoming a custodian at Central Campus. He accepted a position with the United States Postal Service in 1985 and served as a mail clerk for 37 years. Peggy died on May 8, 2015. Russell had continued to reside in Minot.
Russell previously attended First Assembly of God in Minot and was a member of The Minot Gun Club, and Souris Valley Bowman's Association. He especially enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycle, his 1948 Willys Jeep, off roading, gardening and spending time with his family.
Russell is survived by: his children, Dawn Krall (David Chambers) and Rusty (Rebecca) Krall, all of Minot; grandchildren: Shawnee and Brittany Krall and Michelle (Brandon) Hutchins; great grandchildren, Wyatt Haugrose and Thomas, Allison, and Naomi Hutchins; siblings: Brenda (Jim) Jeffries, Randy Krall, Judy Stitt, Diane Ney, Karen (Vic) Barnhardt, Eddie Krall and Kenny Krall; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Mackey (Janell) Roy, Marjorie (Tim) Eisenzimmer, Duane Roy, Betty (Ernie) Mock, Faye (Robert) McNamara, Hazel (Jeff) Hawkenson, Patsy (Bruce) Haugeberg and Pam (Calvin) Arndt and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Russell was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years Peggy; father: Russell H. (Helen) Krall; mother: Irene (John) Siegrist; grandmother: Hilda Hitz; sister: Lisa Krall; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jimmy Roy, Pastor John Roy, Vivian Roy, Minnie Krueger and Peggy's two infant brothers.

Memorials
are preferred to Minot Fire Department because Russ was a volunteer fire fighter in Pennsylvania.
