Rueben Franklin Simonson, 88, Minot and formerly of rural Deering died on Thursday August 5, 2010 in a Minot hospital.
Rueben was born on April 14, 1922 on the family farm in Maryland Township of Ward County south of Deering, ND to John and Anna (Anderson) Simonson. He was reared on the family farm and attended rural schools.
Rueben married Kathyren "Kay" Fuchs in 1947 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where, in addition to farming, he was employed at Sweetheart Bakery from 1952 until 1979. Kay died on October 9, 1995. Rueben was married to Esther Mosser for a short time. Most recently, he had resided at Brentmoor and at Edgewood Vista for the past five years.
Rueben was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Brethren Church and a former member of First Assembly of God both Minot. He especially enjoyed gardening in later years.
Rueben's loving family includes his son: Gerald "Gerry" (Susan) Simonson of Surrey; grandchildren: Shannon and Erica Simonson and Angela (Nathan) Schneider; great grandchildren: Bentley and Cohen Schneider and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rueben was preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin sister: Ruth Gay and brothers: Albert, Palmer and Edwin Simonson and an infant brother.
Funeral Service:
Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Redeemers Lutheran Brethren Church Minot.
Interment
will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Minot.
Visitation:
Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to Our Redeemers Lutheran Brethren Church Minot or Gideon's International.
