Rudolph Roy "Rudy" Zupetz, 79, Minot died on Monday, December 9, 2013 in a Minot hospital from an apparent heart attack.
Rudy was born on January 12, 1934 in Virginia, MN to Rudolph and Edna (Johnson) Zupetz. He was reared and educated there and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Virginia in 1951. He attended a junior college in Virginia, graduated from the Colorado State College of Education in Greeley CO in 1955 and received his master's degree in industrial education from UND. Rudy was drafted into the U.S. Army in November of 1955 and served until his honorable discharge in November of 1957. Following his discharge he moved to Minot where he was employed as a teacher.
Rudy married Mary Isakson on December 29, 1961 in Frost, MN. They made their home in Minot where Rudy established Zupetz Cabinet and Construction in 1969. In his younger years and during the summer months Rudy was an assistant golf professional in Virginia. More recently, he was a golf instructor at Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot. He retired in 1996.
Rudy was a former member of Augustana Lutheran Church Minot where he was a member of the church board of directors and currently a member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church Minot. Rudy was an active member of the Minot Junior Golf Association, Hockey Boosters and Magic City Figure Skating Club and played a major role in establishing the Jack Hoeven Wee Links Golf Course. He was a longtime member of the Minot Curling Club, Souris Valley Golf Course Men's League and especially enjoyed woodworking, golfing, curling and traveling.
Rudy's loving family includes his wife of 51 years Mary; children: Susan (Roger) Howse of El Paso TX, Ruth (tom) Miller of Farmington CT, Rudy Jr. (Lisa) Zupetz of Castle Rock CO and Karen (Bob) Isaacson of Minnetonka MN; ten grandchildren: Ryan, Ben and Jacob Howse; Anthony and Amanda Miller; Rudy and Ellie Zupetz and Libby, Zack and Frank Isaacson; brother: Gilbert Zupetz of White Mountain Lake AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of the Life of Rudy Zupetz: Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment arrangements are pending.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers memorials are preferred to Bread of Life Lutheran Church, The Second Story or the Minot Curling Club.
