Ruby Williams, 93, longtime Des Lacs area resident, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in a Minot Hospital.

Ruby was born to Thomas and Mary (Carlson) Lindbo on November 15, 1923 at Spring Lake, North Dakota, southwest of Minot, where she was raised and educated at country schools in that area. She was employed for a number of years as a cook at the Des Lacs - Burlington Schools. In addition, she had worked as a chef at the Minot Country Club and cook at the Burlington Caf.

Ruby was united in marriage to Gordon Williams on August 1, 1959 at Minot. They made their home throughout the years in Des Lacs, where in addition to her cooking duties she also assisted Gordon with his janitorial duties at the DLB School. Ruby and Gordon could often be found in their retirement years at Flea Markets. In addition, she enjoyed baking, especially lefse and donuts. Gordon died November 12, 2000.

Her loving family includes , daughters, Bonnie (William) Schriock, Minot; Sonja Williams, Eau Claire, WI; 2 grandchildren to include: Terri Bedford of Minot and Jerry Rydberg of Minneapolis; great granddaughter, Melissa Rydberg (Jeremy Weltikol); great-great grandson, Jamison Weltikol; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon and siblings, Coyla, Rosella, Murrine, Everest, Leo, Willard, Carol, Thomas Jr., and Myron.

Celebration of Life service: Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, October 4th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Souris Valley Humane Society.
