Ruby Eleanor Howard, 99, Chandler, AZ former longtime Minot resident died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Park Regency Care Center in Chandler.
Ruby was born on January 16, 1914 in Forman, ND the eleventh child of Henry and Amanda (Nelson) Walstead. She was reared and educated there and graduated from Forman High School.
In 1938, Ruby married Stanley Howard in Cogswell, ND. They made their home in Crosby prior to moving to Minot in 1941. They had resided at 605 14th St. N.W. for many years. Ruby was employed at in the Minot branch of the North Dakota Welfare Department (now ND Department of Human Services) and Stan was a former co-owner and president of John Iverson Company, an electrical and electronics wholesale company. Stan died on February 22, 1982. Ruby continued to make her home in Minot during the summer and in Phoenix AZ during the winter until she moved to Chandler, AZ permanently in 2006.
Ruby was a longtime and active member of First Lutheran Church in Minot. Also, she was a member of the Minot Country Club and Elks Lodge. She especially enjoyed golfing and playing bridge.
Ruby is survived by her daughter: Susan Howard (Gene Beck) of Chandler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband and ten siblings.
Graveside Service: Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.
Visitation: Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
