Obituary

Roy Howard Quick , 94, 513 13th St. SE, Minot, and formerly of Sawyer, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 in a Minot nursing home.

Roy was born August 4, 1912, in Higbee, Missouri, the son of Rev. Strauther S. and Hattie (Atkins) Quick. He was raised and educated in Higbee, graduating from high school in 1930.

Roy married Agnes Busch in 1938. They resided in Sawyer. He was employed at the power plant in Velva for several years, and was also Sawyer Chief of Police from 1958 to 1960.

Roy married Pearl Volson on February 3, 1982. They made their home in Minot, where he was employed with the Minot Public Schools until retiring in 1984.

Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching westerns, feeding wildlife, and watching wildlife shows on TV. Roy was also known to his step-children as the nicest step-father ever.

Surviving family includes: his wife of 24 years Pearl; Sons: Ernest (Darlene) Quick, Mandan; Kenneth (Shirley) Quick, Mandan; Grandchildren: Troy (Marcia) Quick, Bainbridge Island, WA, Robb (Brenda) Quick, Portland, OR, Sheila Quick, Mandan; Great-Grandchildren: Travis, Katie, Ben, Tom, and Sarah Quick; Step-children: Arlo (Lonna) Volson, Steve (Elaine) Volson, Kathy Westman; Step-Grandchildren: Lytton (Sarah) Volson, Julie and Justin Volson; and Great-Granddaughter: Kayla Volson.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and son Donald.

Funeral: Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in Southside Church of the Nazarene, Minot;
Interment:
Sawyer Community Cemetery, Sawyer.
Visitation:
Tuesday, September 19, 2006, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home.
