Roy J. Perry, 83, Minot, and formerly of Minneapolis, MN, died on Thursday, December 07, 2006, in a Minot nursing home.

Roy was born December 5, 1923, in Plain Dealing, LA, to Robert "Red" and Tena Perry. Roy left home at an early age and he worked and attended school until the 10th grade in Louisiana. On November 17, 1975, Roy married Rita Lucier Porter in Minneapolis, MN, where they made their home. They reaffirmed their vows on June 19, 1992, in Minneapolis.

During his working years Roy worked for various construction companies and was a 30 plus year member of the Laborers Union Local #563 in Minneapolis. Also, he hauled and salvaged scrap iron.. He was employed as a valet parking attendant at Nicklows Supper Club in Minneapolis.

Roy and Rita moved to Fargo, ND in 1999 for a year after Roy's retirement due to Roy's health and then moved to Minot.

Roy enjoyed watching and listening to the soap operas with Rita. He always talked about his fishing adventures and being out on the boat. He especially enjoyed driving his big Cadillacs and was an avid Vikings and Twins fan. He also enjoyed playing a variety of card games.

His loving family includes: Wife: Rita, Minot; Sons: Jimmy Roy Perry, Compton, CA, and Jerry (Debbie) Lucier, New Town, ND; Foster Son: Arthur (Michelle) Simmons and their sons, Malachi and Malik, of Minneapolis, MN, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many foster children; Brothers-in-law: Johnnie (Buna) Lucier, Acworth, GA, Ronnie (Joan) Lucier, Minot, Dennis Lucier, Minot, and Virgil (Wendy) Lucier, Carywood, Idaho; Sisters-in-law: Pat (Frank) Bice, Minot, Frances (Ed) Ashcraft, Sanger, TX, Juanita (Jerry) Sennett, Minot, Lorraine (Dick) Noel, E. Freetown, Mass; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Tena Perry.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot;
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Family Service: Monday, December 11, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
