Ross was born on May 6, 1955, in Minot, ND. He was the fourth of nine children born to Eugene and Rosella (Larson) Rubbelke. He attended school in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1973.
On September 3, 2005, Ross married Beth (Mary Elizabeth Laske) at Otter Tail Lake in Minnesota. They made their home in Minot, ND. Ross and Beth enjoyed 16 beautiful years of life together before her passing on October 14, 2021.
In his younger years, Ross participated in many 10K and fun runs for charity with his brother, Kevin. He was active in the Big Brother organization and was recognized for his outstanding involvement with Companions for Children. Ross also volunteered his time to organize blood drives and was a dedicated blood donor throughout his life.
Ross earned a master's degree in business from Minot State College where he was a beloved member of Sigma Tau Gamma. The lifelong friendships with his fraternity brothers were very important to Ross. After MSU, he continued his education at NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND.
Ross was an accomplished electrician. He earned a Master Electrical License from the state of North Dakota. He was the Electrical Inspector for the City of Minot. Throughout his career, he was active in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #714. In 2013, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. Ross received a certificate of appreciation from the City of Minot for his outstanding public service as Building Inspector from 1996-2014. Ross also was recognized by the Minot Soccer Association for his work on the "Lighting the Way" project at the Optimist Soccer Complex in north Minot.
Ross' life was focused on family and friends. He enjoyed time at his Lake Sakakawea cabin. He cherished all of his nieces and nephews. When they were young, he often took them to nursing homes to visit with residents, teaching them the importance of remembering those who are often forgotten. Ross enjoyed playing pinochle, especially with his brother, Kevin. He was well known at the YMCA and recently took up boxing to stay fit.
Ross (the Boss) was a kind soul with a big heart. If someone needed help, he was always willing to lend a hand. Before his father passed away, Ross made a promise to him that he would take care of the family… and he did just that! He was a wonderful and loving brother, uncle, husband, grandpa, step-father, and friend to many. Ross is gone from this earth, but he will live forever in our hearts.
