Obituary

Iola Rosella "Rosie" Knoepfle, 104, Minot died on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in a Minot nursing home with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.

Rosie Finneseth was born in Minot on January 27, 1914 to Theodore Finneseth and Clara Regina (Skukrud) Finneseth. She was raised on the family farm south of Norwich, ND with her two brothers and two sisters.

Her education was through the Norwich and Minot public school systems. Rosie graduated from Minot High School in 1932. She moved to Kentucky for a short time where she completed a beauty school course of study. While in Kentucky, she lived with her brother, Leonard, and his family.

After returning to North Dakota, Rosie worked as a beautician and later went to work at Trinity Hospital as the head of housekeeping. It was there that she met a milk delivery man who she called "Red". He, in turn, called her "Blondie" until they went on their first date. Eleven years later, on March 11, 1953, Emil and Rosie were married in Bethany Lutheran Church.

They had one daughter, Clara Sue. The family lived and worked on the Haugland Dairy Farm northwest of Minot where Emil was a partner in the dairy operation. They sold the dairy operation in 1976 and retired from grain farming in 1983. They stayed active in gardening, haying, and projects around the farm. Emil passed away on May 12, 1998. Rosie continued to live on the farm until November of 2014 when she became a resident of Trinity Nursing Home.

Rosie had many interests and most of them involved loving and caring for her family and friends. She was a model farm wife, mother and grandmother and always had a hot and delicious meal on the table. She was a talented seamstress and made clothing for Clara Sue and Melissa when they were growing up. Rosie was a wonderful baker and sold her cookies and pies at the Farmers Market until she broke her hip at the age of 95.

Rosie was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she and Emil were active in the Hostfest booth selling sot suppe and pastries. Until her injury in 2009 she had never missed a single day at the Hostfest since its inception. She was also a faithful member of the Ruth/Esther Circle and spent many years on the funeral committee at Bethany Lutheran.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Clara Sue and Gary Price, Minot; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Melissa and Darwin Maasjo, Minot; great grandchildren, Emily Rose Maasjo and Justin Maasjo, Minot; nephew, Marvin Sylstad, Minot; nieces, Valerie Gartner, Minot, Judy (Nolan) Willing, OR, Thelma Finneseth and Jane Finneseth, Norwich; sister-in-law, Evelyn Knopfle, Minot and her dear friend Anna Marie Oppegard, Mandan, ND.
