Rose Monson, 92, Minot formerly of Crosby, ND, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018, in a Minot hospital.

Rose was born October 23, 1925, in Towner, North Dakota to Patrick and Christine (Miller) Walsh. She was reared and educated in Fargo, graduating from high school in 1943.

Rose began her working life in Carrington, ND at the Chieftain Restaurant. She moved to the Crosby/Ambrose area of North Dakota, where she began working in the local cafe for many years.

Rose met the love of her life, Raymond Monson at Monson's Bowling Alley in Crosby. They were united in marriage in August of 1946 and made their home in Crosby. Rose was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Crosby. She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, getting lost in a good book along with the outdoors while taking a walk or doing yard work. Rose and Raymond dedicated one night a week for many years to their bowling team, winning many trophies over the years. She loved to dance although her husband would only share in a two-step prior to letting someone take his place.

Raymond passed away on December 23, 1987. She moved to Minot in 2005.

Rose is survived by her children, Karen Bakke, Minot, Gail (Richard) Hambro, Sidney, MT, Doug (Denise) Monson, Deb Monson and Warren (Becky) Monson, all of Minot; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlotte Grote, Crosby, ND, Eleanor Olson, Kalispell, MT, David Eriksmoen, Ambrose, ND and Gary (Louise) Eriksmoen, Minot and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Christine Walsh, step father, Henry Eriksmoen, husband, Raymond, son, Raymond 'Jim' Monson, great-grandson, Tucker Harris, sisters, Lillian and Claire and brother, Edward Walsh.

Celebration of Life Service: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Concordia Lutheran Church Cemetery, Crosby, ND (Spring 2018)
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Crosby, ND.
