Obituary

Ronald 'Ron' Domsteen, 81, Minot, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, July 12, 2019 in a Minot hospital.

Ronald was born June 26, 1938 in Columbus, North Dakota to Jonas and Emma (Stensrude) Domsteen.  He grew up in the communities of Columbus and Velva, ND.  He graduated from Velva High School in 1956.

Shortly after high school Ron began his employment with Truax Traer Coal later known as Consolidation Coal in Velva.  Following the closure of the mine he was transferred within the company to a branch in southern Illinois.  He retired as office manager in 1993.

Ron returned to North Dakota and lived in Hazen briefly before moving to Minot.  He held many part-time positions at various local businesses that included the Minot Daily News, Community Action, Cookies For You and Morgan Printing during his semi-retired years.  He connected with the community of Minot, the people and all it had to offer for entertainment and sports.  He was known by many for his genuine and sweet soul.

Ron was once joined in marriage to Marie Kern.  This union was blessed with two children, Timothy and Michelle who joined Selena, Vicki, Gary and Teresa along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He valued the relationships he created with his extended family his entire life.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Aerie, and was a staple of the Parker Senior Center, all in Minot.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who he adored and fully supported.  Ron loved all sports, plain and simple.  Summers were spent cheering on the Twins and the Vikings continued to break his heart year after year.

In honor of Ron and his passion for sports please dress in your favorite sports attire as we celebrate his life.

Ronald is survived by his children Tim (Bonnie) Domsteen, Minot and Michelle (Marcus) Carter, Minot; 8 grandchildren, Terrell, Tiyah, Blaize, Taniah, Brice, Tayvon, Tamari and Tamia; sister Alelene Miller, Hazen, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce Anderson and brother-in-law Walter Anderson and brother Donald Domsteen.
