Roland 'Rollie' M. Stremcha, 85, Minot, died Thursday, March 12, 2020 in a Minot nursing home.
Rollie was born April 14, 1934 in Havre, MT to Joe and Elmo (Williams) Stremcha. He attended school in Havre and Bainville, MT during his youth. At 17, Rollie enlisted into the US Navy serving his country honorably until his discharge on March 29, 1955.
Rollie was united in marriage to Virginia Wandel in Minot on November 16, 1956. This union was blessed with three daughters. Rollie was employed by the railroad for a time. They made their home in Oregon, where he owned and operated a couple service stations following his railroad career.
Rollie and Virginia divorced in 1967. Virginia remarried and had a son, Eddie, whom Rollie raised as his own since age 5. They remarried August 15, 1975 and spent the rest of their lives together in Minot, ND.
Rollie enjoyed yard work, spending time in the garden and traveled in his motorhome with Virginia across the US to visit his children and their families. He loved to tinker on his Model T and completed its rebuild in 1996. Rollie was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, DAV and Elks, all of Minot. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.
Rollie is survived by his loving wife Virginia, Minot; daughters Shelly Laber, Minot, Sherry (Dale) Kashakitis, Riverview, FL and Sharon (Gary) Powell, Kingman, AZ; son Eddie (Maryann) Vollmer, Minot, ND; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Rollie was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lawrence Stremcha.
A private graveside service will be held at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
