Obituary

Roger James Solberg, 62, Surrey died on Monday November 20, 2006, in a Bismarck hospital of cancer surrounded by his loved ones.

Roger was born on July 7, 1944, in Minot, ND, to Arthur and Inez (Berg) Solberg. He was raised on the family farm in McKinley Township of Ward County north of Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1962.

Roger was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and proudly served his country in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge in 1968 he was employed in the construction industry in Minneapolis until he began employment with the Otis Elevator Company. He continued with that company until he established RS Elevator in 1991. Roger was once married to Bonnie Bone.

Roger was known for his sense of humor and kindness to anyone in need of a good friend. He will be greatly missed by all the family and friends who were a part of his life.

Survivors include: Son: Gabe Markle of Sacramento, CA; Brothers: Don Solberg of rural Minot, Russ (Meredith) Solberg of Othello, WA, Harold (Lois) Solberg of Racine, WI, Ken (Chris) Solberg of Rugby, ND, and Lyle (Darleen) Solberg of rural Minot; Aunts: Alice Bertling, Eleanor Bakken and Lillian Solberg; Uncle: Bernard Solberg; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend Renie Thomas.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and sister-in-law: Lois.

Funeral Service: Friday, November 24, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in Hope Lutheran Church - Surrey;
Interment
will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery - rural Minot;
Visitation:
Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
