Obituary

Roger A. Borkhuis, 60, Minot, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, October 2, 2008 after a short battle with cancer.

Roger was born April 17, 1948 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Clarence "Russ" and Marjorie (Croes) Borkhuis. He earned degrees from Minot High School and the University of North Dakota, where he played football and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Roger returned to Minot with his new bride, Mary Teevens, of Grafton, ND, in 1971 to restart Wholesale Supply Company, a business his late father had started. The two used strong work ethic to build a successful distribution business and instilled those same principles in their three boys, Brian, Brad and Brent.

Roger was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot. He loved to collect and fix cars and was a member of Dakota Cruisers, although he managed to never make a fun run. He was also crazy about Cadillacs, and had the license plate CADYMAN. He loved to travel to car shows, swap meets and the Black Hills with his wife. He was fond of tormenting and feeding his "grand-dog" , Sam beef jerky and also spoil his grandkids, Brice and Amber.

His loving family includes: his wife, Mary, sons: Brian (Micki) Borkhuis, Minot, Brad (Staci) Borkhuis, Minot, and Brent Borkhuis and his special friend, Kathy, Minot; Grandchildren: Brice and Amber Borkhuis, Minot; brother: Bob (Cheryl) Borkhuis, Boulder, CO, sisters: Marlene (Jim) Sorum, Fargo , Marlys Borkhuis, Fargo; several nieces and nephews, along with 62 employees and 2400 customers at Wholesale Supply Company.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
