Rodney L. Weeks, 69, of Burlington, North Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in his son’s home in Minot with family and his best four-legged companion Jake by his side.

Rodney “Rod” was born on October 9, 1957, to Violet (Zietz) and Ronald "Dick" Weeks in Williston, North Dakota. He grew up in Burlington and graduated from Des Lacs Burlington High School in 1976.

Rod was previously married to Gaylne Craig and from this union they were blessed with two children, Silas and Addie.

Rod began his career as a motorcycle mechanic before joining the railroad in 1978. During an eight-year furlough, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for a construction company on multiple sites throughout the region. He returned to the railroad in 1989 and continued working there until retiring in 2019.

Whether working or retired, Rod was always willing to lend a hand. Family and friends could often count on him to put his mechanical and heavy equipment operating skills to work on projects that needed his knowledge and experience. He took pride in being able to fix things and help others.

Rod was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot and was also a member of the railroad union. In his free time, he enjoyed antique farm equipment, mechanical equipment, and tinkering in his shop. He also enjoyed reading spiritual books and listening to gospel and country music.

One of Rod’s most memorable ways of showing love was through baking. He loved baking for family, friends, and anyone who stopped by for a visit. He was well known throughout the Burlington and Minot areas for his homemade apple pies, made from scratch using his mother’s recipe. Sharing his baked goods was his way of expressing love and appreciation for the people around him.

Rod is survived by his children, Silas Weeks of Minot, and Addie (Josh) Larson of Minot; Siblings, Teresa Giasson of Defiance, Iowa, Kelly Weeks of Minot, Steven Weeks of Ray, and Ross Weeks of Williston; 3 grandchildren, Cash Weeks, Cameron Larson and Riley Larson.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald "Dick" and Violet Weeks, his brother Stanley Weeks, and an infant sister, Elizabeth.
