Rodney Andreson, 65, Minot and formerly of rural Sawyer died on Saturday, December 21, 2019 in his home.
Rodney Dean Andreson was born on July 28, 1954 in Minot, ND to Norman and Hazel (Hammer) Andreson. He was raised on the family farm in New Prairie Township of Ward County near Sawyer, ND; attended elementary school in Sawyer; and graduated from Minot High School as a special education student in 1968. A highlight of his teenage years was participation in the 4-H Program. As a young adult he assisted on the family farm during the summer months and volunteered at the Tucson, AZ Food Bank during the winter months. He was an active participant in Minot Vocational Adjustment Workshop/KALIX activities and employment and served as the client advocate for KALIX's Human Rights Committee for the past five years.
Some of the places he frequented on a regular basis were the Trinity Nursing Home, Surrey Senior Center, Harmony Center and Second Story Social Club. Oftentimes, his visits to these places was related to volunteering his time and effort as well as Bingo. Also, he enjoyed trips to Home of Economy, Tractor Supply, Mac's Hardware, ND State Fair and Hostfest. Rodney was described as a very dedicated and conscientious worker and kind hearted man who believed in helping people and volunteering. He brought joy to everyone he met and showed his affection with hugs and wishes for a good day. He especially enjoyed dancing, writing in his books, watching Kung Fu and spending time with his brother visiting family and friends in the Norwich and Sawyer areas. He never forgot his love for farming and the farm community.
Rodney was a member of the Norwich Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed and the Surrey Senior Citizens Center. He especially enjoyed socializing, visiting and had an excellent memory.
Rodney's loving family includes his siblings: Dennis Andreson of rural Velva and Sharon (James) Schmidt of McMinnville, OR; nieces and nephews: Dr. Laura (Kent Bergsrud) Andreson, Kevin (Tonya) Andreson, Joel (Sharon) Schmidt, Eileen (Darren) LaFavor, John (Harriet) Schmidt, Audrey (Andrew) Cook, Scott (Lauryn) Andreson and Shannon (Jason Heltner) Andreson; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: James and infant brother: Daniel.
Rodney's standard farewell to his brother Dennis was always: The Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
