Obituary

Robert "Bob" Ellsworth White, 84, Minot, died Thursday, July 14, 2016 in a Minot hospital.

Bob was born May 22, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota to Archie and Minnie Mae (Swords) White. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1950. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army in 1952 and honorably served his country during the Korean War. After being discharged in 1954, Bob returned to Minot where he resided until the time of his death.

For 45 years, Bob was employed by Dakota Drug Wholesale Company as a pharmaceutical buyer. For most of those years, he opted to walk to and from work rather than drive. He retired in 1996. Bob lovingly cared for his mother during those years until her death in 1975. Throughout his life, he was very kind and giving to family, as well as to many charitable organizations.

Bob was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church (Cornerstone Presbyterian) where he often served as an usher. He was also a member of the Minot Eagles Aerie 2376, Minot American Legion Post #26, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #753. He loved family gatherings and venturing out with his nieces and nephews. Bob was also an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed both golfing and bowling. He took great pride in collecting lost golf balls, often leaving the course with more than when he started. Bob also enjoyed watching and cheering on his teams, especially the LA Lakers, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Vikings from his favorite recliner.

Bob is survived by a great number of nieces and nephews and their families. He will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to call him "Uncle Bob" and those privileged to share in his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Hazel Sabo, Margaret (Tofteland) Wills, Blanche Suelzle, Norma Stevenson, Doris Dreis, Delcelle "Jean" Anderson, and Ardis Huizenga; brothers, Archie Jr. and Donald White; and several nieces and nephews.
