Robert William "Bob" Westom, 83, Minot, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in a Minot Healthcare Center.

Bob was born November 29, 1932 at Minot, the son of Grant and Mae (Goodpastor) Westom. He was raised and educated in Minot. He participated on the football team and graduated from in Minot High School in 1951. Bob entered into active duty service with the U.S. Air Force, honorably serving his country from 1952-1956 during the Korean Conflict.

Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Zeman on June 14, 1957 at Fargo. They moved to Minot in 1957, where Bob was employed first with Northern States Power Company in their Appliance sales division until 1970. He then went to work for Sears selling Appliances until 1993, when he retired. Shirley died on April 26, 2006. Bob continued to live in Minot and entered ManorCare Health Services (now Minot Health & Rehab) in June of 2013.

Bob was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, Minot, where he actively served as a greeter and usher. He enjoyed walking at Oak Park and Dakota Square. He enjoyed his morning coffee group at Marcos, watching Minot High basketball and football games and over the years participated in the Souris Valley Men's Golf group. He also enjoyed watching Minnesota Viking and Twins games.

His loving family includes, son, Jeff Westom of Minot, sister, Marilyn (Lowell) Stake, Perris, CA, sister in law, Sadie Hadland, Fargo; several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 49 years, Shirley, son, Robert, sister, Beatrice and brother, Richard.

Funeral service : Monday, May 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, Minot

Visitation : Sunday, May 8th from Noon-4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
