Robert E. Walker, 80, 922 4th St. SE Minot, died Monday, December 11, 2006, in his home.
Robert was born June 20, 1926, in Minot, ND, to Norman and Grace (Gregerson) Walker. He was raised and educated in Minot, and graduated from Minot High School in 1944. He enlisted into the United States Navy in June 1944 and was honorably discharged in June 1946.
Following his dedication to the military, Robert worked various jobs until he gained employment with Great Northern Railroad in 1948. He was once married to Delores Boyeff. He had made Minot his home since 1946, continuing to work for Great Northern Railroad as a Fireman Engineer until his retirement in 1986.
Robert was united in marriage to Alma (Delzer) Korstad on March 6, 1980 in Las Vegas, NV. They have resided at 922 4th St. SE for the last 26 years. Together, they were members of Bethany Lutheran Church, Eagle's Aerie, NARVE, VFW, and the Elk's Lodge, all of Minot. Robert enjoyed reading and the outdoors, which included: traveling, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He shared a deep love for his entire family and will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.
He is survived by: loving wife of 26 years: Alma, Minot; Children: Susan (Jim) Struckness, Hanover, MN, Debbie Walker, St. Michael, MN, Jerry (Ann) Walker, Steve (Cindy) Walker, and Sandy (Dave) Kenyon all of Colorado Springs, CO, Carol (Jim) Wyne, Garrison, ND and Gene (Barb) Korstad, Casselton, ND; Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Katy, Sarah Neff; Marissa (Judd) Getty, Jason Walker, Rebecca (Taylor) Andrews, Emily Walker, Jacob Walker, Steven Garrett; Ryan Kenyon, Dawn Marie Gates, Andrew Wyne, Jennifer and James Kraig, Kristin and Brandon Scott; Great Grandchildren: Tyler and Tanner Getty and Teresa Gates; Sister: Delores (Rodney) Selfors, Minot; Brother: Kenneth (Caroline) Walker, Fullerton, CA; Aunt: Dorothy Walker; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and son, James Walker.
Funeral:
Friday, December 15, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot;
Visitation:
Thursday, December 14, 2006, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials:
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
