Obituary

Robert John 'Bob' Reiner , age 90 of Burlington, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, in his home surrounded by his children.

Bob was born on February 12, 1927 at Trinity Hospital in Minot to Clarence and Muriel (Haywood) Reiner. He was raised and educated in rural Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School in 1943. Bob took over the family farm and was later united in marriage to Marlys Anderson on January 13,1952. Together they raised five children.

Bob farmed into the 1980s. He did construction work on oil sites in the 1950s. Bob worked for Hoppman Roofing for many years and also at Coal Creek Plant in the 1960s. In the 1970s he and the Bradley Brothers formed BB&R Construction and assembled steel buildings and poured concrete. He worked for North Star Steel pouring concrete until the age of 78. Bob later worked for Soaring Eagle until 2007. His last job was assisting his daughters at Mikey's Country Candy in Burlington.

Bob was president of the Burlington School Board when the decision was made to unite the two schools, which later became (Des Lacs/Burlington, DLB United #7). He served as the Burlington Township Tax Assessor for many years, and was an active member of the Eagle's Club. Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor and positive attitude. His work ethic will be a model for his children and grandchildren.

Bob made many memories playing Bingo with family and friends. He enjoyed deer hunting, playing basketball and softball with his sons and their friends. He loved playing board games with his grandkids and Skyping with his great grandkids.

Those most honored to share his life: daughters, Sharon (Mark) Brauer, Prior Lake, MN, Deanne Reed, Ojai, CA, Lesli (Terry) Getzlaff, Burlington, ND; sons, Robbe (Vicki) Reiner and Roger (Rose) Reiner, both of Burlington, ND; Marlys' sister who was raised by Marlys and Bob: Leona (Anderson) Janz; 5 grandchildren, Heather Reed, Melissa Andersen, Robert Getzlaff, John Reiner and Rachael Reiner; great grandchildren, Deegan Reed, Grace Andersen and Emma Andersen; lifelong family friend, Grace Leslie; adopted daughter, Pam Mariner and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlys; granddaughter, Marlee Reiner and sisters, June Carlson and Marion Martin.

Celebration of the Life of Robert Reiner : Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
Interment: Friday, May, 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Burlington Township Cemetery
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of plants and flowers memorials are preferred.
