Obituary

Robert "Bob" Bernard Reinarts, 87, Minot, ND, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in a Velva, ND nursing care center.

Bob was born October 31, 1927 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Henry and France\'s (Pahen) Reinarts. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated in 1945 from St. Leo\'s High School, where he was class president both his junior and senior years.

In 1945, Bob entered into active duty with the US Navy and honorably served his country until August 1946. Upon his return to Minot, he enrolled at Minot State and subsequently graduated in 1949 with a BS degree in Education. On February 18, 1950 Robert married Dorothy Mae Stack. Together they raised four children, Bruce, David, Paula, and Peggy.

In Bob\'s earlier years he worked for Westland Oil as a sales representative and Mutual of Omaha as a district representative. In August of 1955, Bob took a risk and formed his own business with one other partner. He opened the Office of Minot Realty and Loan, Inc. In September 1965, Bob branched out and bought a business known as Minot Paint and Glass. In April of 1967, Bob purchased another realty company known as 4th Ave. Realty. Bob actively operated all of these businesses. In December of 1967, Bob sold his interest in Minot Realty and Loan, Inc. and 4th Ave. Realty. In February of 1968 Bob filed his Articles of Incorporation forming Owner Direct, Inc. He was the owner of this successful business right up until the time of his retirement.

Bob was always a farmer in his heart. He owned and oversaw the operations of several different farms in North Dakota. Bob\'s love for the land goes even further in that he was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to attend auction sales. Bob spent most of his leisure time in the outdoors. His favorite place was his farm where he spent countless hours hiking his land or "puttering" in his outbuildings!

Active in politics, Bob ran for several different positions. Bob entered the race for 6th Ward Alderman in 1976 and held that office until 1980. At that time Bob sought the position of Ward County Commissioner. Winning that election he held that position from 1980 through 1996.

Bob served on many boards including the North Dakota Game and Fish Advisory Board, the Land Acquisition Review Committee for Garrison Diversion, the Board of Directors for First National Bank of Crosby and the Board of Social Services. This is only a small list of his community and state involvement as there were so many. Bob was also active in various clubs in the Minot area. He was a member of the Legion, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, YMCA, and Golden K Club.

Bob\'s loving family includes, children: Bruce (Darlene) Reinarts, Bismarck, ND and David (Debbie) Reinarts, Garrison, ND, Paula Potter and Peggy Visina, both Minot, ND, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
