Robert "Bob" Lillegard, 74, Minot, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at his home.

Bob was born October 23, 1933 at Landa, North Dakota, the son of Harold and Alma (Vinje) Lillegard. He was raised on a farm in Scotia Township of Bottineau County. He was educated at Landa and Lansford and entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army on February 25, 1954. He was honorably discharged on February 24, 1956.

Bob returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Irene Gustafson on May 3, 1958 in Kenmare, North Dakota. They made their home in Minot, where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with various road construction companies in North Dakota. He retired in 2004.

Bob had attended First Lutheran Church in Minot. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union local #49, American Legion Post of Fargo, the Minot Eagles Aerie, Loyal Order of the Moose, and NoDak Racing Club. He had enjoyed racing cars in the Minot area and around the country. He had won a number of racing and snowmobiling awards. He had been inducted in the NoDak Speedway Hall of Fame.

Bob enjoyed car racing, snowmobiling, traveling, and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings.

His loving family includes: wife of 49 years, Irene; daughter, Denise (Dave) Aberle, Fargo; Grandchildren: Dana and Daniel Aberle; sisters, JoAnn (Ken) Fletcher, Thief River Falls, MN, Joyce Lillegard, Minot, and brother, Ron (Pat) Lillegard, Webster, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Ken Lillegard.

Funeral service : Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot
Interment : ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
Visitation : Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
