Obituary

Robert "Bob" LeRoy Cadwalader, 82, Minot, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. As he wished, he died in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born December 31, 1927 in Hazard, Nebraska, the son of Orville and Gertrude (Hohlfeld) Cadwalader. He was reared and educated at Holdrege, NE and graduated from high school there in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945, and honorably served his country in the Aleutian Islands, Shemya and Attu until 1947.

Robert attended the American Academy of Horology in Denver, Colorado and graduated with a degree in watch making in 1949. He moved to Minot in November of 1949, where he was employed at DuPaul's Jewelry until 1953.

Bob was united in marriage to Ellen Hendrie on July 29, 1951 at Leeds, ND. They made their home in Minot, where he was employed at Parke Jewelry and Diebold Safe Company until 1955. Then, he served as an agent for New York Life Insurance Company for the next fifty-five years. Bob and Ellen spent numerous winters in the Mesa AZ area.

Bob enjoyed spending his free time working on watch and clock repair, playing pinochle and golf.

Bob was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and as Christian Education Superintendent. He was Past President for the Roosevelt School Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Bob was a former member of the VFW Post #753, American Legion Post #26, Elks Lodge and Eagles Aerie all in Minot.

His loving family includes : wife of fifty-eight years, Ellen; children, Linda (Allan) O'Shea, Benson, MN, Ann Cadwalader, Minot, Kathy (David) Kratoska, Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Matt (Rhianna) O'Shea, Scott (Sashanna) O'Shea, Kevin O'Shea and his fianceé, Liz, Claire O'Shea and her friend, Brian; Robert Cadwalader Wagner, Marie Cadwalader, Michael Kratoska and his friend, Ashley, and Alec Kratoska; great-grandchildren, Madison, Cameron, Grady and Silas; brother, Cliff Cadwalader, Bear, Del.; brother-in-law, Ross Cobb of Milwaukee, Wis. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Delbert.

Funeral service : Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot .
Visitation:
Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00pm in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church - Minot.
