Robert "Bob" J. Lee, Minot died Friday, January 7, 2011, in Nordland, WA.

Robert was born February 6, 1934, in Minot, ND to John and Edna (Ofsthun) Lee Jr. He was raised in Minot and educated in the public school system.

Robert enlisted into the US Navy in 1952, serving until receipt of a medical discharge later that same year. Following his discharge, he returned to Minot, ND and began his career as a bricklayer. He served his apprenticeship at Mattson Construction and maintained employment there for the next 10 years until taking his talents to Fugelseth Masonry for the next 20 years. He finished his career at Holm Construction and Jost Construction for a total of over 50 years in the industry.

Robert was united in marriage to Rosemary Mattern on June 25, 1962, in Rugby, ND. They had made Minot their home throughout their lives and were active in the community. Robert was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge, Minot Curling Club, Eagles Aerie, Elk's Lodge, Minot Bricklayer's Union #1, ROMEO Club, Velva American Legion along with the Forty and Eight Group and Good Sam Meadowlark RV Club.

Together, they shared a love for Boy Scouts highlighted by their commitment as an entire family to Boy Scout Troop #425 in Minot. Robert served as committee chairman of the troop for five years and assisted with camp building projects at Big 4 Campgrounds located west of Minot. He earned his Wood Badge in addition to many other awards including the District Award of Merit, Spark Plug and the Silver Beaver, the highest recognition a volunteer can receive in their district or council. Life enjoyments included playing pinochle, bingo, camping and curling.

Following Rosemary's death in October 2005, Robert remained a dedicated father, grandfather and brother to his family. He will be deeply missed by all of those he touched during his lifetime.

Surviving family includes: sons, Ken Lee, Auburn, WA and Kirk (Stacy) Lee, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Nathan and Madison Lee, Jessica Jones, Cole and Jalynn Vollmer, Carson Lee and Noah and Elijah McKnight; daughter-in-law, Maryann (Ed) Vollmer, Minot, ND; sisters, Lois Markle, Burlington, ND, Joan (Vance) Heuer, Roanoke, TX, Carol Lee, Mesa, AZ and Patsy Gauthier, Pacific, WA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary; son, Keith Lee; infant sister, Joyce, and sister, Cora Anderson.

Funeral service: Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, January 14, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Boy Scout Troop #425 in Minot.
