Robert L. "Bob" Walsh, 64, 1101 Del Mar Court, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, in a Minot hospital.
Bob was born June 13, 1945 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Edward R. and Helen (Clifford) Walsh. He was raised and educated in St. Louis, where he graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School in 1963.
Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 13, 1963 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was accorded numerous medals for his honorable service to his country. Bob was once married to Hazel Wengel on June 14, 1969. This union was blessed with three children. They made their home at Scott Air Force Base, near Belleville, IL until settling in Minot in 1976. Bob retired from the military on December 31, 1983 with the rank of Tech Sergeant. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Minot State University in 1988. Bob was once married to Tandy Carter in July 1989.
He continued to reside in Minot, where he gained employment at various locations over the years including: ND State Fairgrounds, REM, Inc., Choice Hotels and Wal-Mart.
Bob was an avid collector of everything, but specialized in stamps and coins. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. He was very outgoing and made friends with any and all he met. He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.
Surviving family includes: Children: Marie (Bill) Epperson, Colorado Springs, CO, Michael (Mary) Walsh, Las Vegas, NV and Rebecca Brower, Warrensburg, MO; Step-son: Douglas Carter, Topeka, KS; Grandchildren: Shayla and Alexis Epperson and Cobain and Irene Brower; Special friend: Jeannie Thom, Minot, ND; Nieces: Colleen (Walsh) Pijut, St. Louis, MO and Kathleen (Walsh) Nellis, Vicksburg, MS; Nephew: Daniel Walsh, Cayman Islands; and many cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward C. Walsh, St. Louis, MO.
Funeral: Friday August 7, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND in the Veteran's Section
Visitation: Thursday, August 6, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
