Obituary

Robert Joseph "Bob" Lowe, 92, longtime Minot resident and the founder of Lowe's Printing died on Saturday, August 22, 2009 in a Minot healthcare center.

Bob was born on November 3, 1916 in Minot, ND to Albert and Pearl (Dopp) Lowe. He was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1934. As a young adult he was employed at Lowe's Grocery and at the Minot Daily News. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served until his honorable discharge in 1945. It was while serving in the Navy that he met his future wife Betty.

Bob married Elizabeth "Betty" Hendrick on December 15, 1945 in Los Angeles. They made their home in Minot where he was employed in advertising sales until, together, they established Lowe's Printing in 1955. They owned and operated that business for many years and were joined by their son in the ownership and operation of Lowe's Printing in 1975. Betty died on January 28, 1998.

Bob was a longtime member of the All Saints Episcopal Church where he held numerous leadership positions. He was a charter member of the Minot Y's Mens Club and a longtime member of the Star in the West Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and Kem Temple of the Shrine. He served as the Chairman of the Shrine Circus for seven years and was a member of the Royal Order of the Jesters and the Board of Directors of Ward County Historical Society.

He especially enjoyed gardening, reading, golfing, traveling and baking bread.

Bob's loving family includes his three children: Mary (Dave) Smith of Deloraine, MB, Canada; Linda (Al) Landsverk and Tom (Cheryl) Lowe, both of Minot; eight grandchildren: Mary Emily Smith, John Smith, Robert Landsverk, James Landsverk, Jennifer Lowe, Katie Lowe, Matthew Lowe and Lindsey Lowe, two great granddaughters: Gracyn Elizabeth Landsverk and Moira Kinleigh Landsverk; sisters: Della Van Eckhout and Betty (Duane) Aga, both of Minot and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers: Phil and Jim Lowe; sisters-in-law: Clarice Lowe, Jane Johnston, B. Lou Hendrick; brothers-in-law: Frank Johnston, Jim Hendrick and George Van Eckhout and granddaughter: Elizabeth Anne Landsverk.

Funeral Service: Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church - Minot.
Interment
will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
Visitation:
Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot. There will be no reviewal in the church prior to the service.
Memorials
are preferred to the All Saints Episcopal Church, Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Minot Family YMCA.
