Obituary

Robert Milton "Bob" Haugen, 74, Minot and formerly of Ryder died on Monday, May 24, 2010 in a Minot nursing home.

Robert was born on May 6, 1936 in Minot, ND to Clarence and Gladys (Underdahl) Haugen. He was reared on a farm in the Ryder area and attended rural schools before graduating from Ryder High School in 1954. He attended Minot State Teacher's College for one year before serving in the North Dakota Army National Guard from 1958 until 1965. It was during this time that he served in the Berlin Crisis. He returned to Minot where he continued his employment with the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1998. Robert married Shirley Whitmore Hennes on June 4, 1976 in Minot.

Robert was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge, Elk's Lodge, Eagles Aerie and National Association of Retired Veteran Employees. He served on the Board of Directors and various committees of the Prairie Federal Credit Union.

Robert loved working in his garage, boating, fishing and camping. He was a man who could fix anything and a generous person who would help out anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife: Shirley; daughter: Gwen Haugen of St. Louis, MO; stepchildren: Kari (Keith) Seelig of Cameron, WI, Tim Hennes of Irving, TX and Lauri (Darin) Romine of Littleton, CO; grandchildren: Kayla and Tyler Hennes and Dylan and Marli Romine; sisters: Doris Nelson of Alexandria, MN and Donna (Ronald) Sherven of Wahpeton, ND; brother: Roger (Kaye) Haugen of Des Lacs; aunt: Ramona Schroepfer of Minneapolis, MN, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Richard Haugen and brother-in-law: Richard "Dick" Nelson.

Funeral Service: Friday, May 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in First Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment
will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
In lieu of flowers memorials
are preferred to Alzheimer's Assoc., First Lutheran Church and charities of the donor's choice.
