Obituary

Robert Alan Barden , 67, Max, formerly of Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, with his family at his side in a Minot, ND hospital.

Robert Alan Barden was born September 12, 1950, in Atlanta, Ga., to Howell L. and Stella (Brewer) Barden and known to his family and friends as Alan. He grew up in Southwest Atlanta, attended Cascade and West Manor Elementary schools in Atlanta, and Greenville High School in Greenville, Georgia. Alan was a member of Southwest Christian Church in East Point, Ga.

Alan joined the United States Air Force and thereafter was referred to as Robert. He proudly and honorably served his country in reserves for twenty years, with active duty served in England, Spain, Germany, Japan, and other exotic places.

Robert was married to Carolyn Fannik on December 6, 1985, in Atlanta.

In October, 1997, Robert and his family moved to Max, ND, where he worked plumbing, heating and HVAC construction and services. Robert went to Iraq working for a private contractor, supporting US Troops for two tours, and then worked in the Bakkan Oil Fields.

Robert enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Robert Alan was a loving, loyal and fun son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is loved and will be missed by all.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carolyn Fannik Barden of Max, ND, daughter, Kristy (Christopher/Chris) Reece, Temple Ga, son, Braden (Pam) Barden, Villa Rica, Ga, daughter, Sarah (Chris Silvia) Becker, Minot, ND, and son, William "Will" Barden, Max, ND; brother, Howell (Lane) Barden, Jr, Cumming, Ga, sister, Cheryl (Gary) Wigley, Gainesville, Ga, brother, Steve (Nancy) Barden, Hoschton, Ga, brother, Douglas (Jill) Barden, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, brother, Terrell (Nancy) Barden, Canton, GA, brother, Eddie (Lisa) Barden, Canton, GA, brother, Tim (Angela) Barden, Canton, GA, and sister , Trellise (Randy) Faile, Cumming, Ga; grandchildren, Brittani (Richard) Kellogg, Timmy (Tracy) Martin, Tiffani Reece, Stephanie Reece, Lana Petersen, Maegan Petersen, Emma Barden, Lucie Barden, Christopher Silvia Jr, Angele Becker, Jayden Bennett, and Betty Silvia; great grandchildren, Ava and RJ Kellogg, Macie Reece, and Natalie and baby boy Robert Martin and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Howell L. Barden Sr. and mother, Stella Brewer Barden Burts.

Celebration of Robert's Life: 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Max, ND.
Visitation: Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the VFW Post #753 in Minot.
