Robert E. Anderson, 86, Minot and former owner of Bob's Drywall (now known as Anderson Drywall) died on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in a Minot nursing home.

Robert Eugene Anderson was born on September 30, 1933 in Jamestown, ND to Levi and Luella (Hinsperger) Anderson.  He was raised and educated there and in Palermo and Minot.  Robert attended Minot Model High School.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 1, 1951 and served aboard the U.S.S. Tarawa during the Korean War. During his military service he received the following service ribbons: National Defense, Korean Service, United Nations, China Service and Navy Occupation.  He received his honorable discharge as a fireman on July 20, 1954 at the Treasurer Island Naval Station near San Francisco, CA.  Following his discharge he returned to Minot.

Robert married Cora Lee on June 23, 1956 in Minot.  They made their home on Skyline Drive in Minot  for many years and he owned and operated Bob's Drywall (now known as Anderson Drywall) for about 40 years.  He retired in 1996.

Cora passed away on October 14, 1999.  Bob had continued to reside in Minot.

Robert was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #26, Eagles Aerie and Elks Lodge all in Minot.  Bob enjoyed collecting Navy memorabilia, model cars, planes and ships, gardening (especially yardwork), bowling and watching baseball, but he was passionate about his pets and family with Saturday morning breakfasts being a weekly highlight.

Robert's loving family includes his children: Becky (Todd) Breitkreutz, David (Barb) Anderson and Mike Anderson (Leslie Varty) all of Minot;  grandchildren:  Dustin (Kelsie) Breitkreutz, Brooke (Ryan) Selk and Courtney (Matthew) Mackey; great grandchildren:  Jackson, Nolan, Hannah and Hudson; brother: Raymond (Gloria) Anderson of Roseville, CA; sister-in-law: Billie Anderson of Racine, WI; in-laws: Lois Markle, Joan Heuer, Carol Lee and Patricia Gauthier and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather: Hardie Garness, wife, brother: LeRoy, parents-in-law: John and Edna (Ofsthun) Lee and in-laws: Robert Lee and Joyce Lee.

Celebration of the Life of Robert Anderson:  Private (due to the Coronavirus Pandemic Restrictions) at the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.  However, the service can be viewed for two weeks starting on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. using https://www.mtmsales.net/live

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter or ND Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
