Ricky Fred Cummings , 64, Devils Lake, died on February 7, 2014, in a Minot hospital.
Ricky was born on August 28, 1949 in Minot, North Dakota, to Fred and Orpha (Christianson) Cummings. He was reared and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot Senior High School in 1967. Ricky enlisted into the US Army in February 17, 1969 serving mainly in Germany as a Radar Tech Specialist until his honorable discharge in January 5, 1972.
Following his military service, Ricky resided in Seattle, WA for a time while being employed by Boeing. It was here that he developed a love of sailing as well as being with friends and family.
He returned to Devils Lake, ND where he was employed for a time at Leevers Liquor Locker as an Assistant Manager and also worked at Leevers Grocery Store. He then moved on to work for Good Samaritan Nursing Home as a custodial engineer, where he enjoyed the company of his co-workers and friends. He retired early to care for his aging mother, who passed away 10 months before Ricky at the age of 99.
Ricky enjoyed his many friends at the VFW and spent many hours there throughout the years. He was also a great sports enthusiast, primarily following baseball and football. We were so proud that he was able to see his beloved Seattle Seahawks finally win the Super Bowl this year. Ricky was a quiet and reserved man who will be missed by all of us but we are comforted by the fact that he is now in heaven and finally at peace.
Ricky is survived by his brother, Robert "Bob" (Dianne) Cummings, Williston, ND, sister, Gloria (Ray) Hall, Seattle, WA and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Beverly (James) Skeem and brother, Melvin "Bud" Cummings, grandparents, Gus and Gunda Christianson and Julia Fisher, aunts, Helen (Larry) Doyle and Grace Hoff and uncle, Mel Christianson.
