Richard 'Rick' Zietz , 73, Minot, died Friday, April 26, 2024, in his home.
Richard 'Rick' Raymond Zietz was born in Minot, North Dakota to Johnny and Viola (Wagner) Zietz on November 3, 1950. He grew up on Project Road South, area west of Burlington, ND.
Rick loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He spent most of his boyhood years playing football, basketball, hockey and track with his six brothers and the neighborhood kids. He graduated from Des Lacs-Burlington High School in 1969. In high school he participated in all sports but was exceptional in baseball, chosen to the all-region baseball team as a catcher and second baseman.
After high school he worked as a parts serviceman for Motor Services and later as a salesman for Iverson Electric and Border States Electric. He earned a 15-year exceptional sales award from DSG Distributing Company before his final retirement.
Rick was once married to Donna Selzler a native of Velva, ND.
Rick later married Maureen (Abby) Dickinson as they made their home in Eastwood Park in Minot. They especially loved making their home festive for each season decorating inside and out with Green Bay Packer things. They were extreme Packer fans.
Rick loved painting, especially outdoor themes. He also was an avid golfer traveling to courses around the state to golf with brother John. He has a love for family and enjoyed sharing stories of the early years as a boy.
Rick is survived by his brothers Tim (Gayla) Zietz, Des Lacs, Tracy Zietz, and Randy Zietz, both of Minot along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant sister Julie, brothers John, Terry and Mitchell Zietz and nephew Jesse Zietz.
Funeral Service:
1:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Our Redeemer's Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation:
Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to Our Redeemer's Church and Our Redeemer's Christian School, both of Minot.
